Stephen Bishop aka Stephen C. Bishop is an American actor and retired baseball player. He was born on September 14, 1970, in Evansville, Indiana, but he currently resides in Dallas, Texas. Bishop became a professional baseball player until he retired in 2006 to pursue his acting career.

Stephen-BishopBishop was born on September 14, 1970, in Chicago, Illinois. The names of his parents are not known, as is what originally got him into acting. What is known is that Bishop graduated from the University of California, Riverside, and decided to pursue acting after 5 years of playing baseball. Bishop got his first on-screen role in 2003 when he was cast as Tyrell Hunt in the romantic-drama sports movie The Road Home. Bishop got his first major role in 2011 when he was cast as David Justice, an aging outfielder who plays for the Oakland Athletics, in the sports film Moneyball. Since then, Bishop has appeared in TV shows and movies such as Imposters, Mob City, Hart of Dixie, Miss Meadows, Battleship, Til Death Do Us Part, The Mentalist, Grandma’s House, Hancock, Grey’s Anatomy, The Town, The Company We Keep, Lost, and Criminal Minds.

Baseball career

Bishop attended the University of California, Riverside, where he played baseball for the Highlanders from 1991–1992.

Bishop was originally drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the summer of 1992 and then was signed as a free agent by Boston Red Sox on June 3, 1993. He played in AAA with Pawtucket Red Sox in 1995 and 1996. Bishop won a World Series ring with Boston in 2004 when they defeated the St. Louis Cardinals and also won a ring with Colorado in 2007 for their World Series victory over Los Angeles Dodgers.
