A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s full name is Avul Pakir Jainulabiddin Abdul Kalam. Karam was born on 15th October 1931 in Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu. He was an academician, president and Indian aerospace scientist. From 2002 to 2007 Kalam served as India’s 11th President.
A. P. J. Abdul Kalam studied physics and aerospace engineering and worked as a scientist. He worked for the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) for 4 years. As a scientist, he worked on India’s civilian space program and military missile development efforts. India’s civilian space program and military missile development efforts led him to become known as India’s Missile Man. With the support of both the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Indian National Congress, Kalam elected as the 11th President of India in 2002.
A.P.J. Abdul Kalam has received several awards including Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor. On 27 July 2015, while giving a speech at the Shillong Indian Institute of Management (IIMS), Karam died of cardiac arrest making him 83 years old.
